The Nzoka Kivuva Foundation is bridging this gap through our structured mentorship program. We connect young people in Machakos County with experienced professionals who provide guidance, support, and practical advice to help them navigate their career journeys.

The Mentorship Gap in Rural Kenya
In rural communities like Machakos, young people often lack access to professional role models. Their parents and teachers may have limited exposure to diverse career options, and they rarely have the opportunity to interact with professionals in different fields.
This mentorship gap has serious consequences. Without guidance, many young people make uninformed decisions about their education and careers, often leading to frustration, underemployment, or dropping out altogether.
"Our mentorship program has reached 200+ young people in Machakos County, with 30+ mentors representing 12 career fields. Participants report an 85% increase in career confidence and a 70% improvement in their knowledge of career pathways."

Case Study: Grace's Journey
Grace Mwende, a 19-year-old from Mwala, had always dreamed of becoming a nurse. But growing up in a rural community, she had never met a nurse and didn't know how to pursue her dream. Her family couldn't afford to send her to university, and she felt her dream was slipping away.

Through the foundation's mentorship program, Grace was matched with a nurse mentor who guided her through the application process for a nursing scholarship. Today, Grace is in her first year of nursing school and is on track to become a registered nurse.
