The Nzoka Kivuva Foundation officially launched the Mwala Under-17 Football League on June 15, 2026, at the Mwala Stadium. The tournament brings together 12 teams from across Machakos County, providing a structured platform for young athletes to compete, develop their skills, and build lasting friendships.
The league is part of the foundation's broader commitment to grassroots sports development, aimed at fostering unity, discipline, and talent development while keeping young people engaged in positive activities.
Uniting Communities Through Football
The Mwala Under-17 League is more than just a football tournament — it's a community-building initiative that brings together young people from different backgrounds, schools, and communities across Machakos County.
The league features teams from across the county, including:
- Mwala Starlets' FC
- Makutano Queens
- Mumbuni Giants FC
- Green-Army Mbiuni FC
- Etikoni Superstars FC
- Ulaani Youth FC
- Muvwana FC
- Kyamutwii FC
"This league is a dream come true for these young players. Many of them have never had the opportunity to compete in an organized tournament before. The excitement and energy are incredible."

"We believe that sports is a powerful tool for youth development," said Advocate Nzoka Kivuva, Executive Director of the foundation. "This is just the beginning," said the league coordinator. "We're already planning to expand the league to include more teams and age categories in the coming years. Our vision is to create a pipeline of talent that can compete at the highest levels."
What's Next
Following the successful launch of the league, the foundation plans to:
- Expand to 16 teams in 2027
- Introduce an Under-15 category
- Establish a talent identification program
- Partner with professional clubs for pathways
